Foundation Announces Collaboration to Support Anti Bullying Effort Nationwide

Los Angeles, CA – Bruce Lee Foundation Chairperson, Shannon Lee today applauded the launch of the Anti-Bullying Caucus (CABC) in the United States Congress, founded by U.S. Representative Mike Honda (CA-15).  The Caucus launch, announced today at the U.S. Capitol is a historic convening of three dozen members of Congress and dozens of national advocacy organizations.

As a young person growing up in Hong Kong and later as a returning citizen to the United States, my father, Bruce Lee, had to overcome bullying and bias at every turn,” said Shannon Lee, Chairperson of the Bruce Lee Foundation.  “The core mission of the Bruce Lee Foundation is to empower young people to believe in themselves and tap into their own strengths while respecting themselves and those around them.”

The health, safety, competitiveness and moral fiber of America is threatened by a bullying epidemic that affects more than 13 million children each year,” said Rep. Honda.  “Bruce Lee’s legacy stands for self respect and respecting others – and the work that Shannon Lee and the Bruce Lee Foundation do around the nation to motivate and educate young people makes them an ideal partner to bring our collective efforts to another level.”

The historic launch of the caucus will include a Press Conference with members of Congress, roundtable sessions with leading advocates and a screening of the documentary BULLY at the Department of Education.

In the coming weeks the Bruce Lee Foundation will announce a number of new initiatives to raise awareness about upcoming anti bullying programs while bringing new educational and personal development opportunities to at-risk youth in conjuncture with the CABC.

The Anti-Bullying Caucus seeks to focus the energy and effort of the movement to forge a path forward to stop bullying -- both offline and online,” added Honda.

“The Foundation looks forward to optimizing our school-based programming and outreach to support and compliment the work of the CABC and the anti-bullying movement,” added Shannon Lee.
