Happy 75th Birthday Dad!  Thank you to all for the amazing birthday love.  My father loved to celebrate his birthday, and I know we would have abosultely loved this outpouring of love on his 75th.  We put together a video of some of the amazing birthday messages that we received.  Thank you!  xox Shannon

The years between The Green Hornet and the Hong Kong films were often difficult for Bruce Lee. In Hollywood he wasn't getting offered the roles he felt he deserved, he struggled to support his family, and he injured his back very seriously and was told that he would never be able to participate in martial arts again.

He turned to many self-help books during this time for inspiration. One day he took hold of one of his own business cards and wrote the phrase "Walk On!" on the back. He bought a special stand for this card and kept it on his desk as a constant reminder to always move forward.

With this as his mantra, Bruce Lee worked himself into the best shape of his life, wrote volumes of notes on many different subjects and ideas, and further developed his art of Jeet Kune Do.

The rest is history.

When life gives you obstacles, you must summon the courage and walk on!

I am amazied and humbled by the effect and inspiration that my father continues to have across cultures and generations.  My father was recently inducted into the California Hall of Fame.  Marcos Breton of the Sacramento Bee attended the induction ceremony and wrote this wonderful article about how "Bruce Lee saved me in my darkest hour."  I hope you will take a few minutes to read the article.  Walk On!  TO READ THE ARTICLE CLICK HERE

"My personal message to people is that I hope they will go towards self-actualization rather than self-image actualization.  I hope they will search within themselves for honest self-expression."  Bruce Lee

THE INTERCEPTING FIST.  Bruce Lee was interested only in full contact, reality based martial arts, training and sparring. My father's focus with these sparring sessions was not on defense, but on intercepting an opponent's attack with an attack of one's own (as demonstrated by Bruce Lee in this video from the 1967 Long Beach International Karate Championships). He was the first martial artist in North America, if not the world, to have his students wearing boxing gloves, headgear and body protectors and spar all out. To Bruce, the only litmus test of a combative technique's worth was whether or not it could be landed effectively on an opponent.

My father faced many challenges in his life.  With each set-back, he summoned the courage to Walk On!  Most importantly, he never gave up!  This video is based around an excerpt from a poem that my father wrote.

Bruce Lee created a symbol to represent his art and his life.  He used this symbol in his schools, on his stationary and business cards, and he created a medallion of this symbol that he wore on a long chain around his neck.  This symbol, which bears his philosophical quote, "Using no way as way; having no limitation as limitation", had deep meaning for him and represented an approach to life that was free and limitless in its possibilities if one could flow with change and turn obstacles into stepping stones.

We collaborated with Moleskine to bring you this leather bound journal which bears the Core Symbol.  As you may know, my father was a prolific writer, an artist of life.  You can find the journal by CLICKING HERE.

A friend of mine found this on facebook.  I LOVE the confidence and panache of this artist (I don't know his name), it is definitely worth the watch.  Enjoy!

I am very pleased to announce our partnership with Electronic Arts in the new UFC video game for the next gen consoles.  I hope you will watch the VLOG we did for this grand occasion.  Shannon

Bruce Lee's JKD Symbol Medallion:
